Frequently Asked Questions

Scale Policy Management

QUESTION:

What is a scale policy? How can I setup rules and limits for autoscaling?

ANSWER:

A scale policy defines rules on how to scale in or scale out a NodeGroup. A NodeGroup is a group of server instances (nodes) on the streaming architecture. With a scale policy you can define a number of parameters, including the minimum and maximum number of nodes allowed while using Autoscaler. (This is useful if you want to prevent scaling beyond your Red5 Pro plan).

For more information on scale policies and policy management, please see the following documentation:

Note that each Red5 Pro pricing plan includes a different number of instances. Using extra instances beyond the amount included in your plan will affect the cost. If you are concerned about running extra instances or exceeding a certain budget while using Autoscaler, please refer to the FAQ below.
