What you Need to Develop Fast Live Streaming Applications

Often we get the question, “What skills do you need to use Red5 Pro?” Which leads to the circular, and not terribly useful answer, “That depends on what you want to do.”

The reason for this is simple: we designed Red5 Pro for developers. As such, it can support a diverse range of custom features and standard implementations. A variety of use cases will logically require a variety of skillsets. Thus, the difficulty of giving a definitive answer.

In short, you need development skills to, well, develop Red5 Pro.

Most importantly, you do not need to have any previous live streaming experience to launch a successful application. Red5 Pro was designed for all developers, not just certain types. We’re an inclusive bunch here.

It’s taken us years to configure the best way to encode the various A/V protocols and codecs (including WebRTC), package them together, and send it through a live stream; all in under 500 ms AND scalable to hundreds of thousands of subscribers. If that sounds hard, that’s because it was. Luckily for you though, we’ve done all that heavy lifting, so you don’t have to worry about it.

Of course, you may find that your team is missing the necessary expertise to fully integrate the Red5 Pro software or to implement a specific functionality. We can help you out there as well with our consulting services.

After creating the open source Red5 project, we stacked Red5 Pro on top to leverage its functionality. That uniquely positions us to help create the most effective live streaming applications. Who best to help you then the company who built the software in the first place?

However, we’re not the only ones that know how to work with our software. We have development partners like Trembit whom we can refer you to as well.

Interested in becoming one of our dev partners? Send a message to info@red5.net or schedule a call.

Accordingly, that expertise comes at a premium. If our services don’t fit within your budget, there are others that know how to work with our software. We can refer you to our development partners like Trembit.
