Mobile SDK Release 8.0.0


Coming off the heels of our 8.0.0 server release, is the latest mobile SDK release.

Version 8.0.0 includes multiple performance improvements as well as a suite of bug fixes including a fix on the rendering pipeline to prevent a crash on stream close.  

We would like to reiterate our thanks to all of our customers for their enormous support in testing our beta releases before they went into production. We know your time is valuable and we very much appreciate that you spent some of it helping us out.

As always, the noteworthy work of our reliable team continues to improve Red5 Pro and maintain its status as a progressive and well-functioning software tool.

Android SDK Release 8.0.0, April 5, 2021

  • Multiple performance improvements
  • Fixed – Memory issue with Android SDK causing crashes in some subscriber use-cases
  • Fixed rendering pipeline to prevent crash on stream close
  • Fixed – Some critical issues with audio-only streams
  • Fixed – Local recording crash on Android 10
  • Fixed – Muting audio affects metadata timestamps
  • Fixed camera 2 test


iOS SDK Release 8.0.0, April 5, 2021

  • Multiple performance improvements
  • New – Added stream resolution to debug view
  • Fixed – High buffer-time experienced with overheating device
  • Fixed – Some critical issues with audio-only streams
  • Fixed – Framerate set above 30fps results in exception
  • Fixed – iOS exceptions subscribing to Android publisher switching cameras
  • Fixed – CPU consumption growth with conferencing
  • Fixed rendering pipeline to prevent crash on stream close
